Why a family, and not one big app
A single app that did all of this would be slow to load and impossible to leave. Separate apps each load only what they need, run on their own once loaded, and can be replaced one at a time — by you, or by us.

Your work is written to your browser's own storage and stays there. There is no database of your notes to breach and no upload to cancel. Open the network tab and write — your words never appear in it.
Two things do leave, and neither is your work. The pages themselves are measured with Google Analytics, the same as any site — it counts visits, never keystrokes or content. And Cardstock's Publish sends the sheet you explicitly publish to a server, because a public link needs one; drafts never leave. Accounts and billing exist only for Notoo Pro.

Every app exports its own data as one portable file, and restores from it. No export tax, no data held hostage.
01Is it really free?
Yes. Every app listed here is free with no limits, no watermark and no daily cap. Notoo Pro is a paid tier for extras on top; nothing in this list is behind it.
02Where is my data stored?
In your browser's own storage (IndexedDB), on the device you're using. Clearing site data erases it, so use each app's export if you want a backup.
03Do I need an account?
No. Every app works fully signed out, with no limits. An account exists for optional cloud sync in the editor, the journal and Bookmarkly, for publishing a Cardstock sheet or a Bookmarkly collection at a link, and for Notoo Pro billing. Nothing else is behind it.
04Does anything ever leave my device?
Only if you ask it to, and every case is opt-in and off by default: cloud sync in the editor, the journal and Bookmarkly uploads to your own account; Cardstock stores the sheets you explicitly publish, and Bookmarkly the collections you explicitly share; and Bookmarkly can fetch a link preview, which you can turn off. Leave all of that alone and nothing you write is uploaded.
05Can I use it offline?
Once a page has loaded, yes. Everything runs in your tab against local data, so your work carries on with the wifi off — nothing you type needs a round trip. Opening an app in a fresh tab still fetches it from the network, though: we don't install a service worker yet, so a cold start offline won't load. The one feature that needs a live connection either way is saving a new page in Bookmarkly.
06How do I move my data to another browser or machine?
The editor, the journal and Bookmarkly can sync through your account if you switch it on in Settings — sign in on the other device and everything follows. Elsewhere it is still export, then import on the other device. Sync for the rest is coming.
